Gill Edwards

Gill has specialised solely in clinical negligence throughout her career. She has acted for Claimants who have been injured due to all aspects of clinical negligence involving GPs and hospital Trusts and she specialises in birth injury, brain injury, spinal cord injury and amputation claims.

Recent experience

Gill’s recent cases have included the following:

  • Damages of £2.4million recovered for a child who suffered an upper limb amputation due to ischaemia in the neonatal period.
  • Damages of £4.67 million awarded after a 5 day Trial for a young man who suffered a below knee amputation due to delay in diagnosing compartment syndrome following a motorbike accident (Judgment Riley v Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust [2022] EWHC 2417 (KB))
  • Damages of £23 million for a child who suffered a chronic partial hypoxic ischaemic brain injury in utero a week before delivery due to negligent midwifery care in the antenatal period which failed to identify reduced fetal growth as a result of placental insufficiency and which should have led to induction of labour.

Gill won Insurance Lawyer of the Year at the Legal 500 Northern Powerhouse Awards 2024.
