Anna Higham

Anna joined the clinical negligence department of Potter Rees Dolan in August 2022. Anna has specialised in high value and complex clinical negligence litigation for over 14 years. She acts for clients who have suffered a range of injuries including catastrophic brain and spinal injury.

She is also experienced in claims involving surgical negligence; failures to diagnose/treat cauda equina syndrome, spinal abscesses and fractures; failures to diagnose/treat strokes or other neurological conditions; fatal claims; orthopaedic injuries; birth injuries or injuries during the neonatal period.

Education and career

Anna graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2005 with an LLB (Hons) degree. She qualified as a solicitor in 2009. Anna comments:

Clinical negligence is the only area of law I was ever interested in specialising in. The medicine holds equal fascination for me as the legal arguments. I chose to represent claimants in order to support people during very difficult times of their lives, helping them to navigate the complexities of the legal system and obtain a just outcome.

Successful cases

Anna represented the successful claimant at trial in Younas v Okeahialam [2019] EWHC 2502 (QB). She has also concluded multi-million pound claims for claimants with spinal injuries, ranging from £1 - £12 million.

Outside of work...

Anna has played the piano for over 30 years. She is also a keen traveller. She enjoys theatre, reading, photography, rugby union and golf, although her opportunities to indulge in these hobbies are limited now that she has two young daughters! She cannot wait to combine her love of motherhood with her love of travelling and take her daughters to various destinations around the world.
