Ruth Wright
Ruth is Head of Court of Protection here at Potter Rees Dolan and has 15 years of experience of acting as a professional Court of Protection Deputy, and a Trustee for both children and adults.
Education & career
After studying Economic History and Sociology at Durham University, Ruth went on to complete the Law Society finals at Northumbria University, qualifying in 1991. What inspired Ruth's career in law? She says:
I hated injustice and I wanted to be able to make a difference to people’s lives.
Ruth specialised in Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence claims initially after qualifying, before moving over to Court of Protection work. She joined Potter Rees Dolan in 2014 and was promoted to Partner in 2019.
Ruth works closely with solicitors dealing with Personal Injury claims and provides expert reports for use by both Claimants and Defendants. She particularly enjoys building long term relationships with clients and their families and supporting them, both during and after the compensation claim process. She finds it rewarding to work closely with clients so that the compensation they recieve can give them the best quality of life possible, as well as financial security. Ruth says:
Having a Professional Deputy gives clients and their families peace of mind knowing that they have someone working alongside them to ensure that the client’s finances are properly managed and their futures are as secure as we can make them.
What others say
Dedicated, resourceful, and very tenacious, Ruth is utterly committed to her clients. I’m very happy to refer my patients/clients to her, and would certainly have her act for myself, or a member of my family. There are absolutely no negatives with Ruth.
